Eva is enchanted by art. Her mum takes her to an expansive art gallery where paintings are hung on the walls. One painting grabs her attention. The painting is a vivid portrayal of the sun with a warm, welcoming smile.

‘Mum, can I explore?’ Eva asks.

‘Sure, but stay close,’ Mum says.

Eva walks down a hallway to find a painting of a forest with a sad deer. ‘Hello there. Why so glum?’ Eva inquires.

To Eva’s surprise, the deer replies, ‘I’m lost. Can you help me get back to the happy sun painting?’

Then, a painting of a stern-faced man speaks up. ‘I won’t let that deer pass through my painting to leave this wall,’ he says firmly.

Quick-witted, Eva recalls a map at the gallery’s entrance.

‘Follow my lead,’ she tells the deer.

The deer moves through different frames as Eva walks. Eva shows it a path to go around the stern-faced man. Soon, they reach the sun painting.

‘Thank you!’ the deer exclaims, leaping into the sun painting and smiling.

Feeling a surge of joy, Eva dashes back to her mum. ‘You won’t believe this,’ she whispers, ‘the paintings can talk and even move!’

Eva knows she’ll return to visit her new friend.
