Pangolins live in Africa and Asia. They like to
explore at night.

Pangolins come in different sizes. Small
pangolins are as long as a cat. Big pangolins
are as long as a dog. Pangolins are not very
tall. They have scales and are yellow or brown.
They have tiny black eyes.

Pangolins can run fast and climb. They can also
swim. When they feel scared, they roll into a ball.
This protects them from dangerous animals.

Pangolins eat ants and termites. They have long tongues and sharp claws to
help them find these tasty insects. Pangolins can’t see very well, but they are
great at smelling. They can smell ants and termites from far away.

A baby pangolin is called a pangopup. When pangopups are born, their
scales are white. A pangopup sits on its mother’s back to stay safe.

Remember … pangolins look cute, but they can be fierce. You can’t have one
as a pet, but you might be able to see one in a zoo.
