Tommy’s Special Chinese New Year Holiday
Written by
Illustrated by
Tommy enjoyed a special Chinese New Year holiday this year. He and his family visited their grandparents in Shanghai. His grandparents were happy to see them.
They said that Tommy was much taller than before. Tommy helped his grandparents to hang up red lanterns in their home. They watched colourful lion dances in the streets. Tommy got many red packets from his grandparents and their neighbours!
Tommy’s grandparents took them to some famous places. They visited the Oriental Pearl Tower. When Tommy was posing for a photo before it, a sudden wind blew his hat off. And the hat landed perfectly on the head of a passing dog! Everyone laughed out loud! Tommy’s mother took a picture of the dog, too!
Tommy’s grandparents also took them to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. Tommy was so excited to walk through the underwater tunnel. They explored the beautiful Yu Garden, too. There were many traditional Chinese buildings and ponds. They ate a lot of delicious traditional Chinese food on this journey.
Tommy loved the pan-fried pork buns most.
Tommy was sad to leave his grandparents and Shanghai when their holiday ended. But he was grateful for the wonderful memories they had created together.
His parents said they would visit Shanghai and his grandparents again soon.
